Right Wing Neo Con Christopher Hitchens- WaterBoarded Video!

http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/featu res/video/2008/hitchens_video200808

You can't embed but watch it. It's scary and yet I enjoyed seeing this pathetic excuse of right wing neo-con get it done to him.  And now he sings a different tune! HA. Welcome a- board. Love the last comment he makes It takes only seventeen seconds to ruin the life of an innocent man.

They told me that when I activated the 'dead man's handle' - which is a simple process, you simply release something, let it go - I didn't do that. I practically, even though my hands were bound, I...as near as I could...I threw the thing out of my hand. I mean, I really wanted it to stop.

I could swear I shouted the code word, but I hadn't.

Everything completely goes on you when you're breathing water. You can't think about anything else.

It would be bad enough if you did have something. Suppose if they wanted to know where a relative of yours was...or a lover. You feel, "Well, I'm going to betray them now. Because this has to come to an end. I can't take this anymore." But what if you didn't have anything? What if you'd got the wrong guy? Then you would be in danger of losing your mind very quickly.

That last paragraph, I believe, is critical, especially considering the torture practices of the Chinese Communists - who we are now emulating - were designed to elicit false confessions from those who were tortured.

Attention should be paid to the aftermath of the experience as well, which Hitchens relates thusly:

As a result of this very brief experience, if I do anything that gets my heart rate up, and I'm breathing hard, panting, I have a slight panic sensation that I'm not going to be able to catch my breath again...lately I've been having this feeling of waking up feeling smothered, trying to push everything off my face.

It takes only seventeen seconds to ruin the life of an innocent man.

The rules apply to you too (2.00 / 2)

Post only 1-2 diaries per day. No single or two-line diaries--if it's a comment, put it in a comment thread. Don't clutter the diaries with foolish commentary on MyDD itself. Do not create a diary that attacks another user.

I am a twisted being (2.00 / 1)

Sorry, eight years in child protection and I have a very sick sense of humor. Definately not politically correct. And thank you very much. Can we please televise the event? This is actually better than my other fantasy. Or at least as good, maybe we can do both.

I want bush, Cheny, and Rice perp walked out of the White House in leg and waist irons. We need to root out Rove, Rumsfield, Gonzalas, and Meyers (for a start) from whatever caves they are hiding in, and after we rejoin the World Court; we try, convict and sentence them all for war crimes. Now this would happen in the next couple of weeks so we prevent the idiot from taking us into another war in the Mideast. I know, Nancy Pelosi would be President for a couple of months. I don't really like her much these days, but think of the alternative, think of the country.

I am not sure what punishment should be placed on them, but I am certain that we can think of something.

Oh and a bit of water boarding on all of the above might not be such a bad thing, and I still get to do it. I mean if there is a chance we could get them to spill the beans, why not? Ok, not Nancy, she didn't vote for such a thing did she?

Wrong Liquid (2.00 / 2)

If it was Stolli or Crown Royal, Chris could have lasted 30 or 40 seconds.

Re: Wrong Liquid (2.00 / 1)

I like Chris, actually, though he is a total blowhard and egotist. But, one hell of a smart guy.

Took guts and honesty to do this, more then our so called department of justice or M*** legal assholes and torture fans like David Addington has.

Re: Right Wing Neo Con Video! (2.00 / 2)

Kudos to Hitchens for being intellectually honest and curious in this matter.

He's an arrogant prick who thinks better of himself than he should, but he's an interesting read just the same.

Bulldozers don't kill people, people kill people (2.00 / 3)

Why is that some people must actually experience something in order to understand the thing?

Re: Bulldozers (2.00 / 3)

At least he was intelltectually curious enough to experience it.  At least it registered in his brain that this might be a problem and an injustice.  That's a lot more than almost this entire Administration seems to think.

Give him credit.  A half loaf is more sustaining that starving.

Aliveandkicking, who are you? Are you really just argumentative and cantankerous or are you a Republican spy set out to break my heart?

Re: Dude (none / 0)

I mean really, you got us all talkin' nice to each other and mean to the POS and his buds. What is up with that? I am not trying to be snarky here, I am really curious. I have not followed your illustrious career but people say some amazing things about you. Sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't.

because I don't mind seeing him tortured. For the shit he has said over the years, he deserves it.

Re: Right Wing Neo Con Christopher Hitchens- (2.00 / 2)

A&K, this was almost a potentially good diary. but it lacks analysis-

either way though, the article + video is a good find.

-at least he had the guts to experience it.

I still wish that my experience were the only way in which the words "waterboard" and "American" could be mentioned in the same (gasping and sobbing) breath.

It reminds me of that line from 1984 -
